Ravello Destination Wedding Legal Requirements

Ravello promises to be the perfect wedding destination for couples, but what legal requirements should you consider?

Here’s what you need to know about the required legal documents and the cost.

Legal Weddings Vs. Symbolic Weddings

You can choose to either have a civil or symbolic ceremony in Ravello.

However, civil ceremonies can be celebrated in the Town Hall of Ravello, which has a maximum capacity of 40 guests. Alternatively, you can opt for The Princess Gardens-Giardini Della Principessa Di Piemonte. The outdoor gardens have spectacular views of the Amalfi coastline.

You can also have a civil ceremony back in your home country and celebrate a symbolic ceremony in Ravello. The best thing about symbolic ceremonies is that they can be personalized to reflect your wishes.

Furthermore, you can have the ceremony at your preferred wedding venue and have the ceremony performed by a minister, local celebrant, or a family member.

Required Legal Documents & Cost

For you to have a civil Ravello wedding. You’ll need

  • Valid passports for both people
  • Birth certificates
  • A Nulla Osta or an affidavit sworn before a consular office of your home country
  • Legal death certificate if one is a widow or widower
  • Divorce papers, if applicable
  • An Atta Notorio signed by two witnesses declaring there’s no legal reason you shouldn’t be married.

Legal Marriage Timeline

Ravello has no residency requirement for couples looking to get married.

Nonetheless, you must arrive at least three days before the wedding to present a sworn declaration that you are free to marry. The declaration should be submitted to the registrar the day before the wedding.

Ravello Destination Wedding Planning Tips

Hosting a wedding far from home is exciting, but the thought of getting all the details right can be overwhelming.

Here are a few Ravello destination wedding planning tips to have in mind.

How to Get There

There are no direct flights from the  U.S. to Amalfi Coast.

The closest airport is Naples Airport-NAP. When coming from the United States, you can fly from Boston to Naples for 15 and 2 minutes, from Newark to Naples for 14 hours and 26 minutes, and from New York to Naples for 15 and 29 minutes.

Airlines like United, Delta, Lufthansa, and Air France have daily flights to Amalfi.

You can choose to travel to Ravello from Naples by train. Walk to Napoli Centrale and take the Circumvesuviana train to Sorrento. The journey takes one hour and ten minutes. Once in Sorrento, take the Sita bus to Amalfi and Ravello. Amalfi to Ravello by bus takes 30 minutes.

However, if you’re coming from Naples Airport, you can take the Curreri Viaggi shuttle, which brings you to the main station in Sorrento in one hour. You can then take the bus to Amalfi and Ravello.

A private car transfer is an excellent option for convenience and speed. The driver will pick you up at the airport and drive you to Ravello without hassle. Additionally, you get to see the beautiful cities of Atrani and Amalfi if passing through Sorrento.

Ravello Weather

Ravello has a Mediterranean climate throughout the year. Summers are clear, warm, humid, dry, and short, while winters are partly cloudy, cold, wet, and long.

March to May is the spring season in Ravello, with average temperatures of 66 degrees Fahrenheit.

Summer lasts from June to mid-September, with average temperatures of 80 degrees Fahrenheit. July is the clearest month, and August is the hottest month in Ravello, with a high of 86 degrees Fahrenheit.

Fall starts from September to November. Ravello gets a lot of rain during November.

Winter starts from November to March, with the average temperature below 60 degrees Fahrenheit. January has overcast skies and is mostly cloudy, while February is the coldest month in Ravello, with a low of 43 degrees Fahrenheit.

Budgeting Tips

While Ravello is more affordable than Capri and Positano, certain costs can quickly add up and make your destination wedding expensive.

Here are a few budgeting tips to help you plan a memorable ceremony without breaking the bank.

Schedule an Off-Peak Season Wedding Date

You can save money by scheduling your wedding date during an off-peak season. There are fewer tourists during autumn and winter, which translates to discounted wedding venues and accommodation rates. Moreover, you get personalized attention from the staff and planner as they need more people to attend to.

Find a Venue With an All-Inclusive Package

Finding a wedding venue that provides an all-inclusive wedding package is best. That reduces the cost of hiring separate vendors for your meals, photography, music, or decor.

Trim Your Guest List

Keeping your big day small can help you save hundreds of Euros.  With a guest list of 20-30, you can comfortably find a package that covers accommodation, food, ceremony, and reception within budget.

Best Time of Year to Get Married in Ravello

It’s best to schedule your wedding dates between April and October.

April to May is the spring season in Ravello, where temperatures begin to warm up. It’s a perfect time for couples who love adventure and exploring.

Summertime runs from June through August when the skies are clear and the weather is sunny and warm. It’s ideal for couples who love spending time on the beach and cooling off at the pool.  However, summer is also peak tourism season, and you may need to book your accommodation and venue in advance to avoid disappointments.

September to October is best for couples who prefer fewer crowds. The weather is still warm, and you’re likely to get better wedding venues and accommodation rates as there are few tourists during this season.
